Fire Service Strike - 30/10/2014

Members of the Fire Brigades Union have voted in favour of industrial action, in a dispute over pensions.

Some simple advice from RANA .... In the event of any industrial action the most important thing to remember is that if you do have a fire, get out of the building, stay out and call 999.

As yet no dates have been set but it is understood that any strike has to take place within 28 days of the ballot.

General Home Safety Advice

  • Have a working smoke alarm on each floor level of your home
  • Check that your smoke alarms are working (check them each week)
  • Don't leave cooking unattended
  • Keep matches and lighters out of reach of children
  • Discuss and agree with your family what to do if there is a fire - plan an escape route
