First Aid Training

The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 require that in order to provide first aid to their employees who are injured or become ill at work, employers must have adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and personnel. This will be determined by an employers risk assessment with provision of trained people being a paramount consideration.

RANA Risk Management are approved to run HSE courses and conducts nationally recognised First Aid training.  Our trainers are professionally qualified and highly experienced. Our first aid training courses are a combination of theoretical and practical sessions designed to enhance knowledge and practical confidence. First aid training courses are advertised nationally or can be run in-house to suit your needs. They are specifically designed to equip learners with the skills, knowledge and confidence to administer first aid effectively, appropriately and safely, whatever the circumstances.

RANA Risk Management offers the following first aid courses:

First Aid At Workis the HSE's approved First Aid course which is run over 18 hours, usually equating to three days training and involves theoretical and practical elements. The course is designed to give delegates the knowledge and confidence to deal with a first aid emergency in the workplace. It is aimed at designated workplace first aiders, or anyone wanting a comprehensive introduction to first aid. Prices start from £1025 for up to 10 persons.

The course is usually run as three consecutive days.  However, at RANA Risk Management we are prepared to split the days to suit your needs if necessary. After completing a final assessment, successful candidates will receive an HSE approved certificate, which is valid for three years after which re-qualification becomes necessary. 

First Aid At Work Re-qualificationis aimed at First Aiders who need to renew their First Aid At Work certificate. The re-qualification course is designed to update and refresh people's knowledge and covers both theoretical and practical sessions. After completing a final assessment and practical skills test, successful candidates will receive the full HSE approved First Aid at Work certificate which is again valid for a further three years.

The Emergency First Aid At Work(EFAW) is an HSE approved course and is ideally aimed for smaller, or lower risk work places that present few health and safety risks, where a nominated person is required to take charge in the event of an injury, accident or illness. It will cover basic emergency aid and workplace health and safety regulations and is a combination of theoretical and practical sessions. Prices start from £375 for up to 10 persons.

The course is usually run over one day, and after completing a final assessment, successful candidates will receive an HSE approved certificate, which is valid for three years after which re-qualification becomes necessary. 

The Annual Refresher Trainingis a new 3 hour course, which the HSE strongly recommends you attend, providing you with an opportunity to practice and update your skills once every year during the validity of your certificate. The course is designed for people already holding a current FAW or EFAW certificate allowing students to practice first aid in practical, hands on scenarios to build up expertise and confidence.

Paediatric Training Courses are offered in line with the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and meets the needs of Ofsted. It is suitable for Childminders, Nursery and School staff and run over 2 days (12 hours). Our course is delivered at your venue, by our Paediatric specialist and includes both theory and practical sessions.

AED - Automated Defibrillation training is a half day course designed to introduce existing first aid trained personnel to update them with the knowledge of the application of the A.E.D. in the workplace. The content of this very practical course is geared towards those working in all businesses at all levels.

The students are assessed on the basis of their performance during the day and all successful candidates will be awarded a certificate of attendance.

Medical Gases - This 6 hour course is designed to introduce new members of staff or update existing staff with knowledge of using medical Oxygen in the workplace. The content of the course is geared towards those working in all businesses at all levels. Students are trained to identify potentially hazardous situations, assemble cylinders and giving sets, understand the importance of safety when using compressed gasses and the correct storage.

The students are assessed on the basis of their performance during the day and all successful candidates will be awarded a certificate of attendance.
